Airline Slams 'Pathetic,' 'Idiot' Blogger

Believe it or not, this is how one British airline allowed it's staff to address a blogger who thought that he had discovered a loophole in the company website that would allow people to book a free flight. You might think that this is the work of a few rogue employees, but no, not the case. CNN confirmed the blog posts with the airline spokesperson, at which point they  took a few more jabs at the 'lunatic' blogger. WOW!

TinyChat - Create a Quick and Easy Chatroom

I'm not kidding it's very very easy!
TinyChat allows you to create your own chatroom on the fly. Invite as many people in and close it up when you're done. It's a quick thing with no account creation or fuss. I used TinyChat to collaborate on a couple projects, then kept receiving emails asking what's the chat tool that so-and-so was using.  So go check it out. Go to tinychat. Click on "Click to Create a Chatroom."  Invite people into your chatroom by copying the link and sending by email. This is a great tool to use across the board when many people have many different 'chat' accounts. Keep it simple with something like this.

Mining The Thought Stream

What makes Google and other search engines so valuable is that they capture people's intent, what they are looking for, what they desire, what they want to learn about. But they don’t do a great job at capturing what people are doing or what they are thinking about. For thoughts and events that are happening right now, searching Twitter increasingly brings up better results than searching Google.

Teens Spend Up to 31 Hours a Week Online

How much time do you spend online, America? [Waits for answer.] That’s funny because the average teenager spends a cool 31 hours per week online. And what does the average teen do? The usual, I guess you can say—instant message friends, surf YouTube, get homework help, view porn, etc. Just another day in Anytown, USA.

Googling Your Home Electricity Usage

If people knew how much electricity they were using every time they turned on the lights, fired up the oven or lowered the thermostat on their air-conditioner, they would make smarter decisions about their energy use, and presumably, conserve more.

Jing - Use Jing to capture anything you see on your computer screen and share it instantly...as an image or short movie.

I'm frequently asked by co-workers what program do I use to capture and annotate documents (it does video too).Jing! The great thing is that Jing is always on, just kind of sitting at the edge of your desktop in this little sun icon ready for use. Its simple and best of all free. There is a Pro version, but I haven't had to upgrade my account yet. The company who makes Jing, (TechSmith) has a couple higher end applications, check them out!

Top Social Brands 2008

The top social brands list is a result of Vitrue’s daily analysis of over 2,000 popular brands. Each day, the team analyzes online conversations on a variety of social networking, blogging, microblogging, photo and video sharing sites. Virtue then applies a series of algorithms to measure the frequency of keyword usage, the size of the social media environment, and the magnitude of the conversation. The result is a single numeric score for each brand: the Social Media Index (SMI).

Hipster: The Dead End of Civilization

Investigate, debunk or at least adopt an opinion on the "hipster movement." The article definitely has a slant to it, but more interesting are the reader comments at the end.
